1. Regulations for Caribbean & Mexican weddings:
BAHAMAS- Affidavit is needed for newlyweds, which can be obtained from the US Embassy for a fee of $10 in the Bahamas. For divorcees, the original or certified copy of final decree is required. In the case of widows, a copy of the death certificate is required
ST. LUCIA- Application to be married must be made by a local solicitor to the Attorney General who prepares and signs the license after a 2-day residency period in St. Lucia. The Attorney General should receive the application at least 4 working days before the wedding.
MEXICO- A religious ceremony does not have any legal validity; you need therefore to have a civil ceremony performed by a Judge of the Registry in order to obtain your Marriage License. Waiting period: 2 working days, Witnesses: 4, Passport or drivers license Birth Certificate with apostille translated to Spanish, Blood tests performed in Cancun, Visa received upon arrival in Cancun. After the civil / religious or nondenominational wedding you will receive a signed Marriage license which should be filed with the court of records in your hometown.
2. Regulations for Kenyan Weddings:
In normal circumstances, residency in Kenya is 21 days. If this is not possible, a Special Licence can be obtained beforehand by contacting the Registrar's Office in Kenya Proof of ID You will need to produce your original birth certificates and valid 10-year passports. Proof of status A statutory declaration must be obtained stating that you are both single and free to marry. This must be stamped and sealed and state the words "solicitor", "notary public" or "Commissioner of Oaths". Handwritten documents are not accepted. Divorced If you are divorced you must produce your Decree Absolute with a court stamp. Widowed If either of you is widowed you must provide the death certificate of your deceased spouse. Age restrictions If you’re under 21, you’ll need to obtain parental consent in the form of a Statutory Declaration stamped and signed by a solicitor.
3. Regulations for Thailand weddings:
There are no residency requirements for getting married in Thailand, however the required paperwork will normally take at least 2 working days to complete before your marriage can be registered. For Irish citizens, there is however a 28-day waiting period (although this may be wavered at the Consuls discretion if you are both Irish Nationals and early enquires are made). Required Documentation All documentation must be original. A Valid Passport Affidavit of Freedom to Marry under Thai Law This is an Affidavit notarised by your Embassy or Consulate stating that you are both free to marry and in effect they have no objection to you doing so. You will be required to visit your Embassy or Consulate in Bangkok to obtain this document and you will each require individual Affidavit. If you are divorced – a Decree Absolute If you are a widower – a Death certificate and previous Marriage Certificate. Proof of income may be required. This is stated on the affidavits if any income is declared. (Best to check with your Wedding Planner or Tour Operator).
Prenuptial agreement, If you are planning to have a prenuptial agreement this will not be recorded by the registrar in Thailand. Marriage Certificate If you get legally married in Thailand, you will receive two identical official wedding certificates. The wedding certificates will be in Thai. A certified translation is normally sufficient should you need your marriage certificate for official purposes in your home country. I would highly recommend obtaining a translated certificate(s) before you leave Thailand and this should generally be offered to you by your Wedding Planner or Tour Operator. If immigration visas are needed by one of the newly weds a “Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs” certified translation is needed.
Legal Registration In Thailand the legal registration of your marriage which will take place in the local registration office (Amphur) is the binding part of your marriage.
You do not require a wedding ceremony to be legally married in Thailand.
At the registration office you will be required to have a translator present who speaks both English and Thai and the registration office will arrange the witnesses
4. Regulations for Las Vegas weddings:
Must provide proof of age, Parental consent and court order required if under the age of 16, Must have a social security number; foreigners who exchange wedding vows in the U.S. may need additional or special documentation to guarantee the marriage is recognized in their country, No blood test or waiting period required. Marriage License/Clark County License Bureau: $55
5. Regulations for Cyprus weddings.
Your Cypriot wedding ceremony and certificate is completely legal and totally recognised by UK law, however according to Cyprus law, before the marriage can proceed you must meet the following legal requirements:
Be resident for a minimum of three working days (excluding weekends, public holidays and the day of arrival) before the wedding day. Have valid ten-year passports not due to expire within six months, plus photocopies of all pages relating to the personal information contained therein. Each has your own Single Status Statutory Declaration confirming that you are free to get married.
These must include your name, address, nationality, religion, passport number and occupation; state whether single, divorced or widowed; that you intend to marry in Cyprus; and be signed and stamped by a UK solicitor, stating ‘solicitor’ on the document. Scottish nationals should obtain a Certificate of No Impediment from the local registry office in place of the Declaration. Have a copy of the decree absolute if divorced and, if Catholic, a copy of the marriage annulment. Have a copy of the death certificate if widowed. Proof of parental consent if under 18, stamped and signed by a solicitor. Proof of name change by Deed Poll, stamped and signed by a solicitor. Birth certificates. Adoption certificates if adopted
